WEDNESDAY 13 MAY TORQUAY
Today was a “housekeeping” day.
Paid for our van storage and two nights’ fees – it is now $16.20 a night – no weekly rate.
I did the washing.
John took Truck to a big carwash that does high pressure underneath washes. He got diesel – 66cpl. Together, we washed inside and outside of Truck. There was sand everywhere and it took ages. Under the rubber mat on the driver’s side floor, we found a large nest of ants! We think they have been there since Noosa, when Truck was parked near a very active ants nest at a bowls club. John had been complaining that he was being bitten on his feet as we were driving, but could not see anything down there as we went along – and I had been telling him he was imagining things! Humble pie time! Baygon time! Hopefully, Truck is now de-anted.
I cleaned the Chescold fridge out before it was packed away in Truck. Given the sandy nature of our campsites, it was a bit grotty inside! Defrosted the van fridge. Repacked Truck and van back to normal travel mode.
I cycled to shops and put films in for processing. Went to the book exchange and swapped three for two – a good deal.
One way and another, we worked hard all day.
Late in the afternoon, I cycled back to the shops to get things from the supermarket for tea – the Truck was still being repacked at that time. Collected my photos – very pleased with the Fraser Island photos. Again, I was caught out riding back in the dark. I cycled 9kms today.
Tea was Chinese style minced chicken in lettuce cups.
